The cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) assay is a cornerstone of genotoxic risk assessment, but manual scoring is labour-intensive and expertise-dependent.
This work re-evaluates the CBMN assay using semi-automated scoring following PNA telomere and centromere staining. The approach improves the reliability and throughput of micronucleus scoring and adds mechanistic insight (aneugenic vs clastogenic events), providing a new tool for genotoxic risk assessment.
